Holy F*ck, what an incredible week. I don’t even know if there are enough emojis to tell the full story of the emotional rollercoaster I’ve been on, but if you’ve watched my stories you might have an idea πŸ€•βš’πŸ˜±πŸ™β€οΈπŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ˜πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ˜‚ . . . It’s hard to imagine that this time last week I was drugged up in a hospital bed, throwing up on myself in a zimmerframe from the sheer act of standing up (sorry @samwebb πŸ€’πŸ™ˆ), and not able to roll myself over onto my side or get in and out of bed without excruciating pain. And don’t get me started on how traumatic getting in and out of a car was for both myself and my ride @karina_bujnowicz πŸ˜–πŸ˜“ . . . Fast forward to now and I’m absolutely blown away by how far I’ve come! And how much I’ve loved celebrating every little success along the way. I had no idea I could be that excited about getting pins and needles or being able to lift my leg off the ground unassisted, or essentially learning to walk again without a limp. And yes, I’ve also learnt that while I’m now well on my way to being Bionic Woman, I still have limitations, because on the one day i truly overdid it, my body let me know all about it πŸ™„ . . . I’m not going to downplay my part in this. It’s not lucky that I can walk (for short distances) on Day 8. It’s not good genetics. It’s not inevitable. While I’m sure my gene pool, my lifestyle and the skill of my surgeon all played a massive role in my progress, so did I. I made sure I was as physically and mentally prepared for this surgery as I possibly could be. I’ve consistently done my rehab every day since. I’ve tried hard to laugh even when I wanted to cry. And my hard work has paid off. 8 Days Post hip replacement and I can say with pride that my physio legit ran out of new exercises to challenge me with πŸ’ͺ🏻😝 . . . For all those people who have enjoyed sharing my journey with me thus far, thank you for all your support. Keep the questions coming. And for all of you who have messaged because you’re about to undergo your own journey, i hope sharing mine will make yours a little easier #wegotthis #teamrehab πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ˜ . . . #strength #rehab #hip #replacement #surgery #injury #onecrutch #goals #success
Learning how to walk again, part 3. β™‘ 5 months since the accident ♀ Femur, tibia and fibula still broken but slowly healing, still only allowed to put 50% weight on my leg. Will continue to use two crutches for daily life but am practicing with 1 each day. What a difference a week makes.✌ / #thingsyoucandowhenyouhaveabrokenleg #learningtowalk #crutches #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #physio #brokenleg #walking #lopen #krukken #brokenfemur #brokentibia #brokenfibula #trafficaccident #accidentsurvivor #crutchlife #walking #rehab #accidentrecovery #accident #trafficaccident #mopedaccident #carcrash #crashsurvivor #home #onecrutch
